Zechariah Precept Study

Insights from Zechariah Precept Study

Week One

This week was an overview of the entire book of Zechariah.  What stood out most to me was the prophesies of Christ's first and second coming and events surrounding this.  Also, the mercy and lovingkindness God has toward us even when we are stubborn and sinful.  Zechariah prophesied about events that would take place, as well as warn God's people about sin in their lives.  God's desire is to restore His temple, His city Jerusalem, and His people.

Week Two

my very artistic drawings of Zechariah's first three visions :)

Week Three

Zechariah's first vision 1:7-17 tells us:
  1. God will return to Jerusalem
  2. His house will be built in it
  3. He will bring comfort and prosperity to His people
  4. He is angry with the nations
Zechariah's second vision is the fulfillment of Gen. 12:3.

Zechariah's third vision emphasizes the glory of the LORD.

Week Four

This is where it all goes down....

According to Zechariah 6:

  • Behold a man named Branch (Jesus) will build the LORD's temple
  • and will bear the honor
  • and rule from His throne
  • and be a priest on His throne (He will be King and Priest)

Week Five

Israel will become a blessing to all the world in the last days:
Zechariah 8:13 (God is speaking to Israel) 'It will come about that just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you that you may become a blessing.  Do not fear; let your hands be strong.'

The whole world will want to be in God's presence and the Jews will lead them:
Zechariah 8:23 "Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'In those days ten men from all the nations will grasp the garment of a Jew, saying, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you."'"

Week Six

Only one more week for this study and I have learned so much!  This week was tough!  Chapters 9-11 are chock-full of prophesy about the events leading up to the tribulation, including the anti-christ.  Zech. 11:12-13 us reminiscent of what Judas did leading up to Christ's crucifixion.  Zech. 11:16-18 speaks of a "worthless shepherd" that God will raise up in the land--could He be speaking of the anti-christ???

Week Seven

Well, this is the last week of my Zechariah study.  What a book rich in prophecy, hope, and excitement!!  What I took away from this week's lesson was how God diciplines His own when they turn a stubborn shoulder and how He then provides a way for them to be redeemed!
