Daniel Inductive Study

This week we have concluded that the SILVER kingdom of the statue of Daniel 2 is the MEDO-PERSIAN EMPIRE.  This parallels with the beast that resembles a bear in Daniel 7, which parallels with the two horns of the RAM in Daniel 8.  We also concluded that the BRONZE kingdom is the GREEK EMPIRE which parallels with the beast that resembles a leopard and which from the GOAT of Daniel 8 comes the "small horn".  We said the small horn (Antiochus) comes after the large conspicuous horn (Alexander the Great) has been broken off.

We compared the 4th beast of Daniel 7 with the 1st beast mentioned in Revelation 13.  We learned that at the end of the 3 1/2 years, God sets up His kingdom on earth and all dominions serve and obey Him.

We learned also about the little horn, where it came from (came up from among the 10 horns of the 4th beast) and that it possessed eyes and a mouth uttering "great boasts".  Also, that it wars with the saints and tries to alter times (holy days, feasts) and law (God's law).

At the end of Week Two, we learned some similarities between Nebuchadnezzar's dream and Daniel's dream even though they occurred about 50 years apart.  In this week's lesson we studied Daniel's dream which occurred in the first year of Belshazzar, king of Babylon and by this time King Nebuchadnezzar has died.  Here are the comparisons:
  • Nebuchadnezzar's dream had 4 parts/kingdoms (of the statue) and Daniel's dream consisted of 4 beasts
  • The statue in Nebuchadnezzar's dream had 10 toes (referring to kings) and the fourth beast had 10 horns on his head
  • When the fourth beast is destroyed in Daniel's dream then the ONE LIKE A SON OF MAN is given the Kingdom which will never be destroyed--in Nebuchadnezzar's dream the STONE crushes the statue at the feet and the God of heaven sets up His everlasting Kingdom

After Week One of KNOWING WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS 40-Minute Study, we learned about four kingdoms which Daniel was shown by God.  Not covered in this study, but equally important is :
  • Nebuchadnezzar's demise and how God showed him that his pride got the best of him;
  • The fiery furnace and the fourth man in the furnace like The Son of God;
  • The lion's den and God's deliverance
  • The writing on the wall MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.
